The first project for the Blacam and Meagher architectural practice in Ibiza, where John Meagher reinterpreted traditional Ibizan architecture after many years of visiting the island.

The two houses are situated on a natural podium on a hillside that opens out onto the Morna valley (Ibiza).

The additional features to the former peasant farms create a sequence of interior spaces and patios. This is brought about by a layout of porticos that cast shade and a scale of transition into the exterior spaces.

At double height the living area makes the house and brings the complex together.

The system used for construction, of floor paving made up of reinforced concrete half-joists and ceramic vaults, is a rational and economical choice, which at the same time emphasises the corporeality and textures of the house.

These lines serve in homage to John Meagher (1946-2021).
