Es Juncaret House
The house is located on the northern side of one of the valleys that twist and turn around the village of Sant Miquel de Balansat, on the north-eastern side of Ibiza.
The house is based on platforms that perch on the ground, on top of which the dwelling’s spaces are designed around a central core.
A plant-lined staircase connects the lower parking platform with the first floor, where the living spaces are located.
The horizontal nature of the platforms and the first floor stand out thanks to an exposed white concrete slab that, at times, becomes a pergola or a trellis.
The central wall’s structural role is reinforced by its defining stony surface.
Different patio areas and levels create a sequence of visually interconnected spaces, thus making for a closer relationship between the more private sleeping quarters and the terrace areas connected to the living spaces.
The landscaping work aims to create a distinction between the transition from the patios and terrace areas to the woodland surrounding the house and is conceived as a sustainable intervention, with water management guiding plant selection and project decisions.
